It had taken a lot of muttering and murmuring before the Friar finally "popped the question," but Rosie was so pleased she readily forgave him, and was thrilled to bits at the idea of being "an honest woman at last."
She adorned the tiny chapel with bunting and hung baskets full of flowers everywhere. There were huge baskets of flowers at the doorway and even bells hung above the door.
Unfortunately, she wasn't the only one preparing. The young village rapscallions had stolen some milk churns and put them round the corner of the church so Rosie would not see them. The plan was that when Rosie and her new husband left for their honeymoon, as well as shoes being dragged at the back of the car there would be milk churns.
However, the verger saw them and with the help of the local Bobby sent the lads away with a flea in their ear and I think it will be a long time before they get up to more mischief.
