Margarita was a widow. She had lived in the village for many years but had just been widowed and was feeling very lonely. She had no living family except her sister Lucy, and she was far away in America.
Lucy sent Margarita lots of seeds hoping that they would inspire a new interest in her garden and thus relieve the loneliness.
Incredibly, the only flowers that grew were sunflowers--huge ones, tiny ones, and every size in between. They made Margarita laugh and everyone in the village came to see the results of those crazy American Seeds.
With a new interest in the world, Margarita painted the bricks of her house yellow to match the flowers and ever after that it was called
Sunflower Cottage.
