On a wind-swept beach, amongst the sand dunes, swells our 'old sea dog.' Whilst serving in the Merchant Navy, he read many books. His favourite was David Copperfield, in which a family lived in an upturned boat on the seashore, thus explaining the peculiar appearance of his own home. He was more fortunate than most, as in his life he had had the opportunity to visit many of the places described in the books he'd read.
Now his days are spent at the lifeboat station cleaning and maintaining the life boat. When the call comes, he becomes a valuable member of the rescue crew -- his experience of the seas still a much highly regarded skill. His evenings are spent writing his autobiography, Ahoy There!, but whether he'll ever complete such a long tale is anyone's guess. His difficulty is in deciding what to include as he's led such a colourful and interesting life. It is certain to be highly entertaining reading!
Inspired by the nursery rhyme: Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor.
