Oyster Bay Cottage is the home of the local oystercatcher Sandy Pearlman. Sandy Pearlman is aptly named as during his many years living here by the sea he has had more than his fair share of luck in finding pearls.
After filling his boats with oysters they are all packed in crates of ice, or at least nearly all. While most of the crates go down to the fish market and from there on to the fishmongers and restaurants, one crate always remains behind and takes a very different route, a route that is escorted personally by Mr. Pearlman and which is thought to wend its way to the jewelers of London.
Curious neighbors and fellow oyster catchers have for years been trying to discover Sandy's secret and about the secret dives he makes to the sea bed at the dead of night.
Sandy is indeed a very lucky oystercatcher; perhaps the nosy neighbors might have found a clue to his success in his first name....
