What at first resembles a medieval castle is actually a Victorian folly. The past hundred years had taken its toll on this once splendid building. Until recently, it had become totally obscured by dense vines and woodland. The village council had held numerous meetings to discuss the best way to preserve the folly. The main problem that faced them was where the money was going to come from. Finally, it was suggested that the local brewery be offered a long-term lease on the folly. A letter of proposal was drawn up and promptly sent.
There was one proviso, that the brewery foot the bill for the sympathetic restoration of this unusual building. It is now a thriving restaurant and quite an historic landmark. Why was it named The Hot Pot? For hundreds of years, the hill on which it stands has been known locally as Hot Pot Hill. There are no prizes for guessing what their speciality dish is!
