David's wonderful Fair-well Cottage, nostalgically portrays his Mill House, the first ever David Winter Cottage back in 1979 -- but with the charming addition of a wishing well.
   Fair-well Cottage depicts our mill in its 'hey day' when it was one of the most important buildings in the village -- owned by the Lord of the Manor: all the tenants were obliged to bring their corn here to be ground, otherwise they would face penalties -- a lucrative monopoly which realised a handsome profit.
   Millers raised their fees by taking a quantity of grain from each sack, but were often accused of taking more than their legal share -- often with violent consequences. To this day to call someone a 'Miller of Dee' is considered a serious insult, implying dishonest trading practices:
