Only the kindly old candlemaker could remember when the building was filled solely with candles. When he handed over to his sons, he knew they would preserve the traditions of an age-old skill, and so they did, but at the same time, they moved with the times. Oil and paint soon joined the candles on smart new shelves. Groceries too, and all manner of provisions jostled for space, As new products arrived, so new scents drifted through the old timbered building, rising gently to the thatch; the sound of frequent, chattering customers filled the air too.
